Image Watermark

A watermark exists to deter casual reuse of an image while still letting people see and share it — which means the settings matter as much as the idea. Too opaque and it ruins the photo people were supposed to appreciate; too subtle and it's cropped out in three seconds. This tool's live preview exists specifically so you can dial that balance in before committing.

How to use it

1. Upload the image you want to protect.
2. Choose a text watermark (a copyright notice, brand name, or a status label like DRAFT) or upload a logo image to overlay instead.
3. For text, set font, size, color, and rotation — diagonal across the center is the standard convention because it's harder to crop out than a corner mark.
4. Set opacity while watching the live preview: 10–20% is the typical range for a security watermark meant to deter theft without obscuring the photo; 15–30% suits a visible brand mark where recognition matters more than subtlety.
5. For maximum protection against cropping, tile the watermark repeatedly across the full image rather than placing a single mark — a single corner or center mark is trivially removed by cropping.
6. Download the watermarked image, and keep your unwatermarked original safe separately for printing or personal use.
