Four ways to think about a date, not just one

Age, countdown, difference, and anniversary are the same math pointed at different questions.

Most "age calculators" only answer one question — how old am I — and stop there. This one has four modes because "how old" is rarely the only thing people actually came here for: sometimes it's "how many days until my exam," sometimes it's "how many working days are between these two contract dates," and sometimes it's "what anniversary is this and what's it traditionally called." All four modes share the same underlying date-arithmetic engine; they just point it at a different pair of dates and format the result differently.

How to use it

  1. Pick a mode at the top: Age, Date Difference, Countdown, or Anniversary.
  2. In Age mode, enter your date of birth (and optionally a birth time, for the life-in-seconds stats) — the reference date defaults to today, or you can switch to a custom reference date to see how old you were, or will be, on any other day.
  3. In Date Difference mode, enter a start and end date to get the full breakdown: total days, weeks, months, plus a separate weekday/weekend split for planning around business days.
  4. In Countdown mode, enter a future date — a wedding, an exam, a trip — to get a live countdown and a day-of-week for that date.
  5. In Anniversary mode, enter the original date and a label (Relationship, Work, Company, Graduation, or Custom) to see the ordinal year and, for round numbers, its traditional name (25th = Silver, 50th = Gold, and so on).
  6. Scroll down for the life-statistics panel (heartbeats, breaths, days lived) and milestone tracker (10,000 days, 1 billion seconds, etc.) — these only populate in Age mode, since they need a birth date to project from.

Common use cases

  • Legal or eligibility checks — confirming an exact age in years and months for a form that asks "as of [date]," using a custom reference date instead of today.
  • Contract or project timelines — Date Difference mode's business-day split answers "how many working days do we actually have," not just the calendar-day count.
  • Countdown pages for events — due dates, exam dates, trip departure dates — anything where "X days to go" is the number that matters.
  • Milestone and anniversary planning — catching a 10,000-day or 1-billion-second birthday, or knowing a 30th wedding anniversary is traditionally "Pearl" before you go shopping.

How is my exact age calculated?
We compare your date of birth with the reference date (today by default) down to the second. The calendar breakdown (years, months, days) uses precise date arithmetic that handles month lengths and leap years, while the totals (days, hours, minutes, seconds) are computed from the exact millisecond difference.
What happens if I was born on 29 February?
Leap-day birthdays are handled correctly. In non-leap years your birthday is treated as 28 February for calendar arithmetic, and your next-birthday countdown will show the celebration date as either 28 February or 29 February depending on the year.
Are the life statistics (heartbeats, steps, etc.) accurate?
No — they are educational estimates only. We use common population averages (about 72 heartbeats per minute, 16 breaths per minute, 8 hours of sleep, and 7,500 steps per day). Real values vary hugely per person, which is why every estimate is clearly labelled as approximate.
Do my dates get uploaded anywhere?
No. Every calculation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your date of birth and reference dates are never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared. Recent calculations are saved only to your own device's local storage so you can pick them up later.
Why is my age different on another website?
Different calculators round differently. Some show just the calendar breakdown (e.g. 27 years, 4 months, 2 days), while others show cumulative totals. We show both, plus the exact totals in days, hours, minutes, and seconds so you always know precisely how old you are.
What is a business day and how is it counted?
A business day is Monday through Friday. When you use Date Difference mode we count every weekday between the two dates (both ends included) and separately show weekends, so you can plan around working days.
