Where interview transcription actually gets used

Journalism

Transcribe a recorded source interview to pull accurate, timestamped quotes for an article without replaying the whole recording.

Academic and qualitative research

Convert recorded research interviews into text for coding and analysis — export to Word or CSV for use in qualitative analysis software.

Oral history and documentary work

Get a searchable transcript of a long-form recorded conversation, with timestamps to jump back to specific moments in the audio.

Podcast-style long interviews

Transcribe a full podcast-length interview to pull highlight clips, write an episode description, or publish a text version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Interview-specific questions about transcription and speaker labels

Can it separate the interviewer from the interviewee?
There's an experimental "Identify speakers" option that labels each turn in the conversation as "Speaker 1", "Speaker 2", and so on. Click a label to rename it everywhere at once — e.g. "Speaker 1" → "Interviewer". It's turn-based change detection, not true voice-identity diarization, so accuracy drops somewhat in longer interviews or with more than two people talking.
Can I get timestamped quotes for citations?
Yes. Every transcript has word-level timestamps, so you can find the exact moment a quote was said and cite or jump to it directly.
What export formats work for writing an article or paper?
Word (.docx) and PDF are the most common for quoting directly into a draft; CSV and JSON are available if you need structured data for qualitative analysis software.
Does it handle overlapping speech or crosstalk well?
Like most speech recognition, it does best with one person speaking at a time. Heavy overlap or crosstalk can reduce accuracy for that portion — the transcript stays fully editable so you can correct it by hand.
Is there a limit on interview length?
No artificial limit. A 20-minute interview or a 2-hour recording both work the same way; longer files just take more time depending on your device.
Is the interview recording kept confidential?
Yes — nothing is uploaded. The recording is read and transcribed entirely in your browser using a local AI model, which matters for sensitive source or participant interviews.
